Hi, I’m Margaret!

My art is an emotional response to the natural landscape and an attempt to capture the feelings and memories it evokes. I love the outdoors and am a keen hillwalker, beach stroller and occasional sailor. I have always been drawn to wild, remote landscapes and rugged coastlines, especially our wild Atlantic coast. The constantly changing light and the kaleidoscope of dramatic clouds make me want to capture them in paint. Crashing waves, diving seagulls, mountain streams, wild flower meadows and swaying grasses all fascinate me.

Over the years I have explored a variety of media- oil, watercolour and silk painting, weaving and sculpture. Working in a variety of media gives me freedom to experiment and helps me better understand colour, form and texture. I am still trying to capture the sparkle of light on water!! At the moment, I am enjoying painting with acrylic.

Since I retired from primary teaching, I now have the time and space to focus on being creative. My studio is in Dublin where I live with my husband and two daughters.

Many people have described my paintings as joyous and uplifting. I’ve enjoyed creating them and I  hope they give you pleasure too. Enjoy!
