Original contemporary Irish seascape painting in Acrylic.
Inspired by the Wild Atlantic Way and our beautiful Irish coastline
This piece was painted while I was Artist in Residence in the Burren College of Art. It was wonderful to be sharing a studio space with so many other artists, sharing ideas and techniques. Another artist showed me how to use acrylic glazes. I experimented with building up layers of pure transparent glazes to create the depth of the water in the rockpool. Texture on the rock was created with many layers of thick opaque paint applied with a palette knife. The pure white light striking the rock and reflecting in the water creates the feeling of moonlight illuminating the scene.
