Night rescue

Original commissioned painting in acrylic

I was delighted to be specially commissioned by Derek Keegan, one of the founder members of Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue team, to create this painting. He wanted to present it to his colleagues in Oldham Mountain Rescue UK with whom he has a long association.

The painting was inspired by a photo taken by Nigel Hyde, President of Oldham MR, during a real incident in November 2020. The photo captured Maritime and Coastguard agency helicopter R912 approaching an extraction zone where the casualty was loaded aboard and flown to hospital.

The painting depicts the close bond between OMRT and the Coastguard helicopter. Together they share a common purpose, that of saving lives in wild remote places.

Before heading to the UK, the painting was shown as part of the FESSF exhibition in Dublin Castle opened by Minister Simon Harris on National Services Day
