Ros Aoibhinn, Croagh Patrick

In October 2018, I spent some weeks in Westport petsitting. Every day, I painted and took Izzy, the red setter, for a walk on Rosmoney Pier.

One crisp autumnal day I sketched this boat, Ros Aoibhinn. I was drawn to the intricate silhouette of the boardwalk against the sparkling silver water.

It makes me smile to remember sketching as I sat on the rocky shore, Croagh Patrick in the distance, sounds of gentle lapping water, shells crunching underfoot, surrounded by birdsong. I was totally lost in the moment and content. Simple pleasures!
