Original contemporary Irish seascape painting in Acrylic.
Inspired by the Wild Atlantic Way and our beautiful Irish coastline
This was painted while doing an art course on Sherkin Island. I was staying in a hostel at the very end of the island in a room overlooking the rocky cliff. As I painted, I could hear the roar of the waves crashing on the rocks below the window. I wanted to capture the energy and force of the waves so I literally threw the white paint at the canvas to make the splash. The craggy rocks were painted using strong strokes of the palette knife. I can almost feel the salt water spray on my face.
